KMB Technologies Introduces Polymer Coated Urea Technology at GIS

KMB Technologies is introducing a polymer coated urea technology at the Golf Industry Show (GIS) that promises to extend the nutrient release of fertilizers for up to 90 days. SurfCote^TM-N is a slow-release urea for general turf production and will be available through Knox Fertilizer distribution in the Shaw's Turf Food line for spring 2008.

The Surf® technology, or Sustained Uniform Release Fertilizer, is a patented polymer coating that represents a new era of "smart" fertilizers that will help golf course superintendents, lawn care professionals, landscaping companies, as well as specialty crop growers, improve their environmental impact as well as their bottom line.

"At a time of increased environmental awareness, SurfCote-N is the right product at the right time for our customers," says Robert Shaw, President of Knox Fertilizer Company. "With slow release technology, a consistent nutrient source is always available to the plant for optimum growth but without the time-consuming and costly inconvenience of repeat applications. SurfCote-N also reduces the opportunity for plant burn and over application and waste of nutrients.

Nearly four years in development, the Surf technology has undergone three full years of rigorous, independent field testing with Universities in south, east and Midwest, each demonstrating consistent results over diverse geography and conditions.

For Knox Fertilizer, SurfCote-N is another in a string of new products launched to the market in the past 12 months. In addition to SurfCote-N, they introduced Platinum^TM homogenous fertilizer for greens, tees and fairway applications; GroGard^TM, an amino acid growth promoter; and Cutless®, a turf growth regulator that reduces the need for mowing and the volume of grass clippings.

Shaw's Professional Golf Turf Program

Control Granules

Shaw's control products deliver pest control remedies such as herbicides, insecticides, or fungicides to a target area via an impregnated inert granule. The granular formulation of these products make it ideal for small or hard to access areas or in places where a liquid application may not be the most efficient means of control.

Fertilizers

Shaw's fertilizer products consist of various physically blended plant nutrient ingredients, that when applied to a turf site provides that plant with its needed requirement of nutrition at an economical cost.

Herbicides

Insecticides

Shaw's combination products are a combination of plant food and a pest control remedy such as an herbicide, insecticide, or fungicide. These products are applied to turf in order to provide uniform delivery of a lawns nutrient and plant protection needs in a single granular application.

Sprayables

Shaw's Water Soluble products are designed to deliver variable nutritional needs based on growers desired application rates. Available in three N-P-K ratios. These high quality soluble products can be used in spoon feeding applications for athletic turf or ornamental plant production. Other uses include supplemental additive to hydoseeding applications and in herbicide spray mixes for the lawncare industry.

Growth Regulators

Cutless® (flurprimidol) is a turf growth regulator. Cutless reduces or slows turf growth, but unlike other PGR products, it doesn't suppress development. Here's why: it grows with shorter internode length (i.e., fully developed cells, but reduced in size). This reduces mowing and grass clippings. And treated turf needs up to 25% less water.

Platinum Fertilizers

Platinum® is formulated from a patented chemistry, to provide more efficient use of essential plant nutrients. Uniform micro-sized pellets release nutrients gradually and consistently, maximizing plant vigor while minimizing over-consumption and leaching.
